KUMU Rave
costumes created together with Lisette Sivard and Andreas Kübar. Performance by Henri Hütt

The animal-like costumes created for KUMU Art Museum’s organised KUMU Rave performance directed by Henri Hütt. Costumes were
created in collaboration with Lisette Sivard and Andreas Kübar. Costumes are a reflection on rave culture, mixed with friendly absurdity and a sense of irony. The liberating nature of rave culture can bring out unexpected and even animal-like sides in people. We decided to amplify this idea in the costumes.
The “after party” photo series has been completed after the performance, presenting the garment after its original purpose, in which the change of the costume through the activity is depicted as the final result.
The center of the performance was a surrealistic pillow fight. The playful elements of the costumes are linked to the liberating nature of the rave culture. The distant coolness is replaced by witty playfulness.
